Dr. Vijay Bhoola

MBBS, FCOG (SA),FRANZCOG

Vijay trained and practised Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South Africa before coming to New Zealand in 1998. He is a Consultant at Waitemata Health and visiting consultant at Southern Cross Hospital and Shore Surgery.  Vijay has a special interest in Medical Education and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Auckland School of Medicine. In 2014 he was awarded the “Distinguished Clinical Teacher” award by the Medical Faculty of the University of Auckland.  

Vijay’s special interests include multiple pregnancy and medical complications of pregnancy.  Vijay also practices general gynaecology and is a CQUIP accredited colposcopist.

Vijay is married and has two adult children – a Pharmacist and an Optometrist.  His hobbies include travel, wine, music and golf.

DR. kerri Meuli

MBChB, Dip Obs, NZCFP, FRANZCOG

Kerri is a 6th generation Kiwi and graduate of Auckland Medical School.  She was formerly a consultant at Waitemata Health and RANZCOG training supervisor and is now in full time private practice.  Kerri helps manage the joint practice and is an Obstetrician representative on the Maternity Clinical Governance Committee.  She is interested in Quality and Safety and clinical guideline development and is a visiting consultant at Shore Surgery.  

Kerri’s special interests include obstetrics, medical and general surgical gynaecology and colposcopy.  She is also a CQUIP accredited colposcopist.

Kerri is married and has three adult children and two grandsons.  Her hobbies include walking and hiking, dance (tap and jazz), skiing, church and travel.  She is has completed a Diploma in Pacific Studies.

Dr. Maha Haddad

MB ChB, Dip Obs, FRANZCOG, DDU

Maha originally trained in medicine in Bagdad but completed her Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in New Zealand in 2003.  She also has a Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) from the Australian Society of Ultrasound medicine.  

Maha is a consultant at Waitemata Health (formerly National Women’s) and she does diagnostic ultrasound at Auckland Hospital.  She is a director of Shore Birth and practices private obstetrics at Shore Birth and private gynaecology at Shore Women.  She is a visiting consultant to Southern Cross Hospital. Her special interests include high risk obstetrics and ultrasound, medical and general surgical gynaecology and she is a CQUIP accredited colposcopist.

Maha is married to Eddy, a General Practitioner and she has two children.  Her hobbies include singing, music and reading.

Dr. Yvonne Li

MBChB,  FRANZCOG

Yvonne is originally from Hong Kong China but has been living in New Zealand for more than 25 years. She is a graduate of the Auckland Medical School and did her post graduate training in New Zealand obtaining her Fellowship in O&G in 2013.

Yvonne’s special interests include general and high risk obstetrics, general gynaecology and colposcopy.

Yvonne speaks Cantonese and Mandarin as well as English which is a wonderful help for our Chinese patients. She is married with one daughter and enjoys cooking and home improvements. Yvonne is a Sunday School teacher and says she learns a lot from her 3 and 4 year olds! Her hobbies include music, art, movies and crafts.

Dr. Joy Marriott

MbChB (Hons), MD, DipEd, FRANZCOG, MRCOG

Joy emigrated from the UK to New Zealand in 2011 and completed her Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2017. She completed advanced training in pelvic floor surgery (RANZCOG ATM in Pelvic Floor) in 2016.

Joy’s obstetric interests include medical complications in pregnancy. Her gynaecology special interests include prolapse, urinary incontinence, menopause, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain and previous birth or sexual assault trauma. She is available for specialist consultations, colposcopy and laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and prolapse surgery, operating at Ascot Hospital in Greenlane, Southern Cross North Harbour and Shore Surgery.

Joy is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland and leads the Obstetrics and Gynaecology teaching programme for Year 5 medical students. Joy is involved with several research projects, including a NZ multi-centre trial of induction of labour and the utility of a vaginal pressure sensor probe (Femfit®) for pelvic floor disorders.

Joy is married and has four children ranging in ages from 1 to 21 years. Her hobbies include cycling, cooking and playing the piano.


DR. DEEPIKA ARORA (currently overseas)

MBBS, Post grad Dip OBS/GYNAE, Post Grad Dip Addiction Studies (NZ), FRANZCOG

Deepika originally trained in general medicine and then specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India. She worked in private practice prior to arriving in New Zealand in 2008. She then completed her Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in New Zealand. During her training she worked in multiple hospitals across New Zealand.

Deepika is a visiting consultant at Te Whatu Ora (Waitemata), Te Whatu Ora (Te Toka Tumai Auckland) and also works as a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for Southern Cross Hospital and Shore Surgery. Deepika is a Senior Lecturer at University of Auckland and part of Obstetrics and Gynaecology teaching programme for medical students.

Deepika‘s obstetrics interests include medical complications in pregnancy, especially gestational diabetes and high risk pregnancies. Her gynaecological interests include menstrual disorders, menopause and colposcopy. Deepika is also a CQUIP accredited colposcopist.

Deepika is married and has two beautiful young children. She enjoys listening to music, dancing, walking and travelling.

Dr. Abir Abed-Ali - GYNAECOLOGIST 

MbCHB, Dip Obs, FRANZCOG

Abir originally trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Bagdad but has been working in New Zealand since 1998. Abir completed her speciality and Fellowship training in New Zealand. She is an O&G consultant at North Shore Hospital and a visiting consultant to Southern Cross Hospital and Shore Surgery. Abir is interested in obstetrics, medical and general surgical gynaecology and is a CQUIP accredited colposcopist. She runs the Colposcopy MDM at North Shore Hospital. Abir is married to Sadiq, a Pathologist, and has two children. Her interests include walking and travel.

Dr. Tin Lok Chiu - GYnaecologist

MBChB FRANZCOG

Tin is a graduate of Otago Medical School and did his post graduate training in New Zealand and Australia obtaining his Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2014.  He completed two fellowships at St Vincents Hospital and Liverpool Hospital in Sydney in advanced laparoscopic surgery including urogynaecology.  

Tin’s interests include general and high risk obstetrics, general gynaecology in particular laparoscopic surgery, menstrual disorders, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic masses and cervical abnormalities.  He does prophylactic laparoscopic BSO for women with BRACA gene inheritance and laparoscopic transposition of the ovaries for women requiring pelvic radiation.

Tin is a consultant at Auckland City Hospital (National Women’s) with accreditation in advanced laparoscopic surgery and urogynaecology.  He is practising private gynaecology with the Shore Women group on the North Shore and the Auckland Gynaecology Group in the City.

Tin is married with two children.
